Barry wrote to Vicky Ford MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Children and Families on the Government backtrack on the amount of financial support that early years providers can access.

It is completely unacceptable that the Department for Education gave clear and explicit assurance to childcare providers that they would be able to rely on financial support from the Job Retention Scheme, but the Treasury issued “new” guidance on the 17th April 2020 contradicting the information you provided, and upon which the early years sector relied.

Barry sought assurances she will ask the Treasury to urgently rethink its stance on this by ensuring that all sectors can fully access both schemes as they were originally advised.
